Lead Subject Mentor for History
I have carried out a wide range of departmental and whole school responsibilities and initiatives, since qualifying as a teacher in 1998.
I have been a set up a History department from scratch in a new school, which was rated as outstanding by Ofsted and an HMI inspector, who subsequently visited. This enabled me to become second in charge of a large Humanities faculty in my third year of teaching.
Other responsibilities include a whole school initiative to improve literacy across the school, and a promotion to Head of History, with another outstanding Ofsted grading. Coaching is my passion, and after becoming a whole school learning co-ordinator in 2006, I had the opportunity to coach staff and to work towards developing individual priorities for staff. I did this for 9 years, whilst also promoting Assessment for Learning across the school. In 2016 I became a Parliamentary Ambassador for work collaborating with Westminster, and in 2017 I served on an Education Select Committee. In 2017 I became an SLE (Specialist Leader in Education) and work with other schools helping them develop their Humanities Faculties. Currently, I am Head of Humanities, and wholeheartedly enjoy my role as a Lead Subject Mentor for History with MEITT.
