Mid Essex ITT - New Director Announcement
Mid Essex Initial Teacher Training is delighted to formally announce the appointment of Steve Fox as Director

Steve steps into the role having already played a central part in shaping Mid Essex ITT as Assistant Director, working closely with the team, partner schools and trainees over several years.
His appointment brings continuity, deep experience and a genuine understanding of what makes Mid Essex ITT such a strong and trusted provider.
Supporting new teachers into the profession has been a constant thread throughout Steve’s career. From mentoring trainees as a Professional Tutor, to leading curriculum design, quality assurance and assessment across the partnership, he has always been driven by a belief that excellent teacher training can change lives – not only for trainees, but for the children and communities they go on to serve.
As Assistant Director, Steve led key strategic areas including curriculum development, external moderation, statutory compliance and the Assessment Only route into teaching. He was instrumental in the 2024 Ofsted inspection, where Mid Essex ITT was judged Outstanding in all areas, and in navigating the organisation successfully through the ITT Market Review and re‑accreditation process.
Reflecting on his appointment, Steve said:
“Mid Essex ITT is a special organisation. It has a strong moral purpose, a brilliant team and deep relationships with local schools. I’m proud of what we have achieved together already and feel incredibly privileged to now lead the next stage of our journey.”
As Director, Steve is committed to building on existing strengths while continuing to improve. His focus includes strengthening inclusion and SEND provision, developing mentor training, responding thoughtfully to the role of AI in education, and ensuring trainees feel both well supported and appropriately challenged throughout their training year.
