Course Overview

RE is the celebration of the traditional and the contemporary which is reflected in the broad range of texts and beliefs and practices available to be taught. It is a wide ranging and diverse subject to teach as it teaches beliefs and helps students to learn ethical behaviours. • Understand how learning happens in their subject and be able to use a range of approaches to ensure that knowledge is more likely to be retained
  • Learn about the statutory assessment arrangements for Religious Education and be able to guide and prepare students for both internal and external assessment
  • Anticipate and address common misconceptions within planning and lesson delivery
  • Develop students’ hinterland knowledge and intellectual curiosity
  • Use a wide range of subject terminology and be aware of strategies to help students use these terms for themselves
  • Provide learners with actionable, motivational and manageable subject specific feedback in order for them to make progress in their learning

Zahra is always interested in pedagogy and the art of teaching, and having had great tutors and mentors in her own early days, training teachers and mentoring has always been a keen interest of hers. She said: "ITTs and ECTs are the life blood for the future and a it is huge privilege to be part of their training."
