Name Abby Marsh

In what year did you train? 2016-2017

Which subject did you train in? History

Which school/s did you train in? Notley High School and Brentwood County High

Can you tell us a bit more about what you are doing now? I am still at the school I joined as an NQT (Hylands). I have had several roles at the school including Head of Year 7 and Head of Department for Personal Development. I am currently the Head of Humanities. As a part of this role I support teaching and learning and academic progress in 4 departments (History, Geography, RS and French).

Thinking back to your teacher training with Mid Essex ITT, can you share with us about a highlight, fond memory or funny story? I was briefly one of the poster girls for Mid Essex in my training and there were many laughs posing next to banners with my face on!

What was teacher training like when you trained? What were the buzzwords, latest theories or popular pedagogy? EVIDENCE FOLDERS!!! Hours of time organising them, photocopying books/evidence and adding post it notes

Thinking back to your teacher training, what was your key takeaway from Mid Essex ITT? Not to give up. I had really difficult times during my training year but the support I received helped me make it through the year and allowed me to becomethe teacher I am today. I now mentor trainees for Mid Essex and I hope to instil this with future teachers.

Thinking back to your teacher training, is there anyone who supported you whom you would like to recognise or thank? Keith! He was a great course tutor. Also my professional mentor Natalie
