Saffron Teaching School Hub, based at Saffron Walden County High School, is working with six other Teaching School Hubs across Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk, in association with the Department for Education, to organise a local āTrain to Teachā online event to encourage excellent teachers into the profession in our local area.
The Saffron Teaching School Hub - based at Saffron Walden County High School - say the āGet into Teachingā campaign aims to showcase the opportunities there are to get into teaching, whatever your experience or background.
Angela Rodda, ITT Lead for the Saffron Teaching School Hub, said: āAs long as you have a degree, you can train to become a teacher, whether you are a new graduate, looking for a career change or returning to work after having children. It is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling in so many ways and you get to make a real difference to young peopleās lives, contributing to the community in which you yourself were nurtured.ā
Laura, a trainee teacher from last year says: āThe support has been great; my mentor and partner teacher are amazing, and I have learned so much from them already. Also, my tutor has been helpful. The training curriculum goes beyond ticking the boxes and extends to wellbeing and academic support. In school, getting stuck in with whole class teaching has been so rewarding and a great, practical way to get to grips with the job quickly.ā
The āTrain to Teach in the East of Englandā online event will be held on Wednesday 7th December from 4.30-6pm on Zoom. Anyone interested in becoming a primary or secondary school teacher in the East of England can find out about the opportunities available, ask questions and hear from different initial teacher training providers. Our expert panel will offer advice on the different routes available and help you find out more about how to apply and help you set up a school experience visit.
